In a Time of Betrayal

This video traces the story of Marcia Merino (La Flaca) over the past 20 years. First a militant member of the Chilean Revolutionary Left, Merino is arrested and tortured in 1974. Turning informant, she spends the next 18 years as a member of Pinochet's security police. In 1993, she switches sides again testifying against the dictatorship. Taking the form of a dialogue between Merino and the filmmaker, an exiled Chilean writer and victim of La Flaca, the film sifts through the past, searching to understand the life not only of La Flaca, but of Chile itself.
