The Right to Be Nuba
Hugo D'aybaury | France | 1994 | 45 min. | documentary video
The Nuba people are caught in the middle of Sudan's civil war between the northern Islamic Khartoum Government and the southern Sudan People's Liberation Army rebel forces. The Khartoum government has systematically destroyed Nuba villages and killed thousands of people. Trekking through the Nuba hills on camel, filmmaker/anthropologist D'aybaury captures the images of this "hidden war" and the lives of these proud and vital people who struggle to survive against overwhelming odds.
