Red Dawn
Jorge Fons | Mexico | 1990 | 85 min.

Officially banned in Mexico under a previous administration, Red Dawn is Mexico's first feature film to deal with the massacre of more than 400 students by the Mexican Army in October 1968. Rather than recreating the massacre itself, filmmaker Fons reveals its horrors through the eyes of one family living nearby. As the tension mounts, bodies pass in and out of their apartment, some seeking refuge, some seeking a place to die.

Shown at the 1995 Human Rights Watch Festival.
