The Convert
Kazimierz Kutz | Poland | 1994 | 79 min.

Tomasz, a good Party worker, is swept up in a Solidarity demonstration he has been sent to observe. In a turn of bad luck, his momentary zeal is photographed by the State militia. This tragedy, however, quickly turns comedic as his prosecution for anti-Party activities begins. In the end, Tomasz abandons his red Party card and joins the Church, converted from one faith to another by the Communist Party itself and its treatment of him. Tomasz is played by Zbigniew Zamachowki, the lead in Kieslowski's Three Colours: White.
