Ollie's Army
Brett Morgen | USA | 1996 | 60 min. | documentary video

[OLLIES ARMY STILL]

Armed only with a Hi-8 camera and microphone, filmmaker Brett Morgen set out on his own to document Oliver North's historic 1994 campaign for the Virginia Senate. Through sheer determination, he was able to gain access to the campaign and was perfectly situated to examine the passion and the fury that gave rise to his grassroots support. Highlights include the James Madison University "College Republicans" who will stop at nothing to get North elected--even if it means subverting democracy. A startling look at a unique campaign that succeeds in going beyond the sound bites and headlines to produce an insightful portrait of the entire American political process.
