Large, slender cat with small head and long tail. Highly secretive, the mountain lion is rarely seen. Its color is tawny brown, but it can appear gray or almost black in certain lights. Body length is 3-4 feet.; tail length is 2.5-3 feet; weight is 70-170 lbs. It is also known as a catamount, cougar, puma, panther and painter.
